The Circle Group
In 1991 the Circle Group was established by Anthony Norcott in Meriden, Warwickshire, to provide insurance and risk management solutions for commercial clients.
1994 saw the acquisition of a general brokerage in Glasgow, our position in Scotland was further strengthened in 1997 with the acquisition of a broker in Perth, which today forms the nucleus of our Private Clients Division.
In 1999, having outgrown our premises in Meriden, we moved to the centre of Coventry. By this stage, group income had grown substantially and our subsidiary Circle Financial Services Ltd was formed to focus on the provision of Financial Services. In 2001 and 2002, further acquisitions of financial services consultants were made in London to increase our presence in this area.
In 2005 our growth again made it necessary to relocate our Head Office, this time to Holyhead Road, just a few hundred yards from our previous location.
In 2007 we expanded further through the purchase of Eurorisk Consultants Limited (originally founded in 1973), they changed their name to Circle Insurance Services (Nottingham) Ltd in April 2007. In July 2007 a further acquisition in Congleton took place to grow to its current position, with then 5 offices situated throughout the United Kingdom.
In 2012 we added to our London office by introducing a Commercial Broking Team and a London Market department providing access to the competitive London market facilities for brokers. Significantly we then became Lloyd’s accredited.
In 2014 we introduced Square Mile Underwriting into the fold. In 2016 we acquired Creative Risk Solutions and then Mercia Marine in 2017. We also opened a new Financial Services branch in Birmingham servicing the NHS. We now operate from 8 offices and employ over 100 staff.
